Learn to Save Lives with Stop the Bleed
Contingency Training proudly offers the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Stop the Bleed program, a national initiative empowering everyday people to control life-threatening bleeding in emergencies. With over 4 million trained worldwide, this program equips you with simple, effective techniques to act as an immediate responder before professional help arrives.
What You’ll Learn
In just 1–2 hours, Contingency Training’s ACS Stop the Bleed course teaches three critical skills:
Direct Pressure: Stop bleeding by applying hand pressure to wounds.
Wound Packing: Use gauze or cloth to fill deep wounds and control bleeding.
Tourniquet Application: Apply a tourniquet to limbs for severe bleeding.
Participants also learn to recognize life-threatening bleeding and use Stop the Bleed kits, which include tourniquets and hemostatic gauze, increasingly available in public spaces like schools and workplaces.
Why It Matters
Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death after trauma, with victims potentially losing their lives in as little as five minutes. The ACS Stop the Bleed program, launched in 2015 by the U.S. Department of Defense and ACS, is often called the “CPR of bleeding.” Real-world stories, like a coach saving a teen in an accident, show its impact. Contingency Training brings this vital knowledge to our community, ensuring you’re prepared to make a difference.
